GENERAL INFORMATION:

Location: Mollepata district, at the Andean Mountains on the Salkantay Trek.

Tour Type: High Mountain Trek / Scenic and Nature Trek.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

To successfully complete the Humantay Lake Trek, our team recommends:

Crucial Acclimatisation: It is essential to stay at least 2 days in Cusco before this tour to allow your body to acclimatise to the altitude.

Warm Clothing: The climate is freezing near the snow-capped peak. Wear thermal clothing, a windproof jacket, gloves and a wool hat.

Hiking Boots: Wear hiking boots or shoes with good grip, as the trail is made of dirt and loose stones.

Hydration and Energy: Drink water constantly in small sips and carry energy snacks (for example chocolate, nuts) for the ascent.

Walking Sticks: The use of walking sticks is recommended to facilitate the ascent and reduce the impact on your knees on the descent.

Documentation: It is essential to carry the Cusco Tourist Ticket (Partial or Full) for entry to the archaeological sites, as well as a passport and national identity document for Peruvian tourists; both must be original and valid.

IMPORTANT:

High Altitude Conditions: The lagoon is located at 4200 meters above sea level. The altitude can cause physical discomfort (altitude sickness), tachycardia, or rapid fatigue, especially in people who are not acclimatised or have heart/respiratory problems.

Weather and Safety: The weather in the Andes can change rapidly. We can go from bright sunshine to hail or fog in minutes. The terrain can become slippery during the rainy season.

Physical Exertion: A good level of physical fitness is required. If you find the climb too strenuous, horses can be rented on-site (extra cost not included) for the ascent.

Note: Weather conditions are beyond our control, but at Trébol Perú Expeditions, we will do our best to offer alternatives and ensure you have the best possible experience.
